Go Ahead and Ask

The Golden Nugget: No man really becomes a fool until he stops asking questions.

Daily Verse: “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” —Jesus, John 14:13–14

Daily Message:
Lawyers are trained to ask only questions to which they know the answers. They do not want to ask questions that have answers that might help the other side. A good attorney will not ask questions if she or he doesn’t know the answer beforehand.

There really is no bad or stupid question. It just feels like a bad question when the person replying does so in a condescending or dismissive manner. So sometimes we don’t ask even the simplest questions for fear of harsh treatment. We believe that someone will think the question was not worth asking.

If God is God, he already knows the questions you have—and the answers to them. Still, we fear his response. So we don’t ask, and as the Bible teaches us, because we don’t ask, we don’t have. Be encouraged by God, not discouraged. God wants you to ask him, not so he knows your question, but so that you would trust he already knows how to provide you with what you need to know. Go ahead. Ask God anything.

Consider This:

  • What would happen if you asked God to do something contrary to God’s nature?
  • When do you think God answers our questions?

Take Action:
Ask the most important person in your life a question about something that you’ve always wanted to know about them. Ask God to be involved as you speak to this person.
