Strength to Run

Golden Nugget: “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength…they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Daily Verse: “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” —Isaiah 40:30–31

Daily Message:
Recently I discovered that I love to run. I signed up for a half-marathon even though I had never run any farther than five miles. I chose a training program and set out on my trail to glory. It only took a few days for me to realize that my endeavor wasn’t going to be nearly as glamorous as it looked on paper or in my head.

Life is like that, isn’t it? We start out running full speed ahead but quickly realize that life is hard, like a long race. At times, we get weary, stumble, and even fall. Today’s verses express this perfectly and allow us a glimpse of hope past the weariness of life.

When we turn to God, he will take care of our weariness—and he will come through again and again, giving us the strength we need to keep running.

Consider This:

  • What is making you feel weary today?
  • How would you like God to help you with that weariness?

Take Action:
Think about what it would feel like to run through life differently. Write down the things that are making you weary. Spend some time talking to God, asking him to help you with this weariness.
