Keep On Keeping On

Golden Nugget: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Daily Verse: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we don’t give up.”—Galatians 6:9

Daily Message:
Have you ever been weary? Not just tired or fatigued or sleepy, but truly weary? Weariness carries the connotation of repeated effort with no evidence of benefit. It has a heavy feel, and it is gloomy and tough to overcome.

Weary people see no fruit from their labor. They work at something hour after hour, day after day, but their efforts seem useless and wasted. The temptation to quit is almost overwhelming. Invariably, one who begins a life of pleasing God will hit a weariness wall. Things will seem to be getting worse instead of better, and the temptation to return to a previous way of life will be powerful.

The man who wrote this verse, the apostle Paul, knew the difficulty and frustration in sticking with a life that pleased God. He also knew the benefit of staying with it.

When the time comes, those who stuck it out will receive a harvest of rewards.

Be encouraged. Your efforts are making a difference. Don’t quit.

Consider This:

  • In what ways have you become weary in trying to follow God?
  • What are some things you can do to help you push through these difficult times?
  • Who can help you with this?

Take Action:
Instead of a to-do list, make a will-do list. Write down three things that are important to a life devoted to God that you will commit to do for the next week—regardless of how you feel.
