Golden Nugget: “‘What do you mean, “If I can”?’ Jesus asked. ‘Anything is possible if a person believes.’”
Daily Verse: “‘What do you mean, “If I can”?’ Jesus asked. ‘Anything is possible if a person believes.’” —Mark 9:23
Daily Message:
In the movie The King’s Speech, Bertie (King George VI) has to overcome a speech impediment and discover his voice. Though there are many bumps along the road and a lot of inner resistance, Bertie comes to believe that he can indeed speak with authority and without a stutter. But he discovers this only as he submits to the unique speech therapy of Lionel Logue. Lionel helps Bertie move beyond his unbelief and delve deep into the roots of his impediment so that he can be truly free. Their relationship turns into a healing collaboration that allows Bertie to speak for his nation at a critical time.
We are all, like Bertie, on a healing journey, seeking freedom. But there are many hindrances on our path—the primary one being our own unbelief that we can heal. In order to really go with Jesus on this journey, we have to submit—as Bertie did with Lionel—to the fact that he can do it and we can partner with him.
All things are possible with God. “Anything is possible if a person believes.” This is a collaboration that starts with our willingness to believe, despite our many reservations. It starts when we say with the man to whom Jesus was speaking in the above statement: “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”
Consider This:
- What are you seeking healing for right now? An emotional pain? A physical ailment?
- Do you believe Jesus can heal you?
Take Action:
Ask Jesus for the faith to journey with him. Ask him to provide healing counsel along the way in the form of godly counselors (in the case of emotional pain) and good physicians (in the case of physical pain).
