Spiritual Strength

Golden Nugget: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” —Paul

Daily Verse: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” —Philippians 4:13

Daily Message:
We all face difficulties. They may be physical or emotional, relational or spiritual, imposed on us or caused by us. While our challenges vary in type, intensity, and duration, one thing is certain: no one lives free of hardship or pain.
Where do you go and what do you do when it happens to you?

The apostle Paul talks about having the strength to do whatever comes his way—whatever God plans for him or calls him to do. Scholars believe that Paul wrote today’s verse while in a Roman prison, where he was held for teaching about Christ.

Despite his circumstances, Paul wrote about being able to continue to find joy in life. The strength he showed to keep teaching and preaching the good news about Jesus—even during his imprisonment—could only come from God.

We can find the same strength in God when we place our faith in Christ. Hard times come. Pain is a given. Can you go it alone? Or do you need some spiritual strength, too?

Consider This:

  • How have you found strength in the past?
  • What difficulties are you facing now?

Take Action:
If you are immobilized by current circumstances, what might be different if you had God-given strength to move forward? Write down the three areas of your life where you need strength the most. Ask God to help you in those areas.
