Golden Nugget: “And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.”
Daily Verse: “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” —1 Corinthians 10:13
Daily Message:
Adam and Eve, the first people God created, are two of the most infamous Bible celebrities. Part of their fame came from the fact that they broke one simple rule: fruit from one specific tree should never be eaten. Yet eventually Eve and then Adam gave in to temptation and ate the fruit. The consequences were devastating.
My dad always told me that “stolen apples taste the sweetest.” Though God’s standards are best for all of us, pressure to make enticingly wrong choices is a common experience. But today’s verse provides hope.
Although the temptation to make a bad choice may seem impossible to overcome, it’s not. Our lives don’t have to be littered with rotting cores of stolen apples. God will never give us more than we can handle, and when we are placed in a tempting situation, he will provide an escape route if we look for it.
Consider This:
- What rules do you find the most difficult to keep?
- What or who helps you make the best choices?
Take Action:
Examine your life and take notes. What choices are you considering that you are not sure about? What are the potential consequences of your decisions? When you feel pressure to make wrong choices, pray that God will show you an escape route.
