Daily Message:

The Bible is an amazing source of wisdom and encouragement. But as incredible as its life lessons are, they are not the main treasure contained within its pages. The greater goal of the Bible is to help us understand who God is. Early on in my spiritual journey, I would become terribly frustrated with reading the Bible because it didn’t seem to apply to my life.

But understanding that the Bible is an aide to help us know God is vital to our growth. Consider the very first verse: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Though you may shrug off this verse as giving no practical tools or guidance for living more effectively, the larger implications of this verse are astounding. 

Think about it. There’s a God who made all that is. He is a God of order and creativity, of beauty and purpose. He created colors and climates, textures and tastes, sounds and smells—and then he gave us senses to enjoy and explore them all. The vastness of the universe, the intricacy of a single cell, and everything in between give evidence of who our God is.
