Golden Nugget: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” —Jesus
Daily Verse: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” —Jesus (John 10:10)
Daily Message:
Have you ever felt that something in your life is missing? If only you were able to accomplish just one more thing, upgrade one more area, and make just a bit more money, life would be better, right? Most of us believe “the good life” can be found in upgrades, acquisition, and activity.
Yet as our egos demand more, our souls seem to cry out for something different altogether. It’s as if deep down we realize that nothing in this world that can satisfy the thirst we have for meaning and fulfillment. In his book Mere Christianity, C. S. Lewis wrote, “If I discover within myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.”
Good thing Jesus is not of this world.
Jesus is not promising to make our life better, easier, or hassle-free. His coming brings a different kind of life—a life that is deeper, richer, and more meaningful than we can imagine. Jesus brings the life we were created for. Will you stop chasing the life culture prescribes and accept the life Jesus offers?
Consider This:
- What are some of the things our culture says are essential for “the good life?”
- What would your life look like if you made an effort to exchange the things you are pursuing for the kind of life God provides?
Take Action:
As you go through the day, pay attention to all of the advertisements you see, hear, and read. What do they stir up within you? Then ask God to give you the abundant life he promised.
